The Bhit gas discovery lies in the Kirthar exploration concession, which is situated in the Sindh Province approximately 170 km northeast of Karachi. The gas was found to be clean and of good quality, but contained approximately 20% nitrogen and 0,8% carbon dioxide and therefore has a relatively low calorific value. A nitrogen removal process (gas treatment) was initiated which operates with molecular sieves.
