12.05.2003 - In January 2002, MAN Turbo got an order for the delivery of two gas turbine - compressor units as a terminal station for the Rio Grande pipeline in Bolivia. The pipeline extends via the Brazilian border to Canos.
The machines are designed to cope with a volume of five million cubic meters a day each. Situated upstream of the compressor station is a natural gas processing plant, where the gas obtained from reserves in the region of Santa Cruz is processed by removing the heavy hydrocarbons and cleaning it. To guarantee the required amounts of gas for the Brazilian customer, the Rio Grande station is being extended to include two gas turbine - compressor units, each rated for 11,200 kW. The machines are being transported by sea to the Chilean port of Arica, from where they will travel by truck over the Andes to the Rio Grande station. Working to a short delivery schedule, commissioning of the machine sets was scheduled for April 2003 and is scheduled April 2004 respectively.
